Valentine’s Day.
So, I woke up in a chipper mood today.
Usually, there’s a part of me that is bitter because I’ve never really had an excellent Valentine’s Day. I’m either single (and convincing myself that I’m okay with that) or the guys from my past have had major issues and never wanted to really celebrate this day. Whack. Haha.
This year, I’m single once again but I’m NOT convincing myself that I’m okay with that. I just AM. :) The past two years of singleness have been such a learning and growing experience, which was something I needed. I found that love for myself that I lost a few years ago, but with a more deeper, spiritual, and I guess “grown-up” understanding this time around. I have my flaws, I have my quirks, and I have my strengths—and they are all things I acknowledge, accept, and work on on a daily basis. And with all of that, I embrace who I am—weirdness and all—and walk with my held high. I was missing that for a few years, and I’m happy that I hold this sunshine of mine with a warm and open heart again. I am also so appreciative of this time I’ve had and still have to myself to prepare for that wonderful person who will one day make their way into my heart. Until then, I’m in love with the life I have and the music that fills my days.
And whether or not I find someone to be my partner ever, I am so thankful that I have such a beautiful support system in my life. My friends and family are the greatest bunch a gal can find, and the love I receive from them is already more than abundant. I woke up this morning feeling so incredibly blessed and happy that I have friends and family I genuinely appreciate, and that it’s reciprocated. What more can you ask for? :)
I have so much to be thankful for and so much to be in love with—and that’s why I am so excited to enjoy this Valentine’s Day as a single lady and as a friend, Auntie, Godmother, Cousin, Daughter, and Granddaughter to all you lovely people. Thank you for all your love and sunshine throughout these years! Cheers to this year’s Valentine’s and celebrations of love EVERYDAY!! :)
